First Fruits of the Garden

Tonight we tried our first samples from the garden.

A Garden Salad with Buttercrunch and Red Leaf Lettuces and a few baby Spinach Greens. It was so sweet, tender and full of flavor.

Then Spaghetti Puttanesca with Fresh Basil, Oregano and Parsley from the garden.

I can't wait to make it with our own tomatoes!

YUMMO!!! It's been a while since I've had puttanesca in a while...capers are a nice change! (Maybe post recipe?)Finally got my veggies planted...flowers today! Now is the time for hard work that will pay off for the rest of the summer.(Weeding) We added a lot of nutrients to our soil this yr, thanks for the inspiration. Peat moss, top soil, homemade rich compost, bovung (cow manure) and chicken manure. Will add Garden-tone later (an organic fertilizer) My tomatoes are small this yr...need SUN!! We all need sun!Love the before and after pics...must do that too...Love, Mom

I laugh so much when I read your blog b/c I never realized how different the weather was out there. I just figured it was similar b/c it wasn't a whole lot further South. However, as you know Mother's day is finally approaching which is our sign to finally quit worrying about frost. Everyone out here is just starting to plant. I can't believe you are eating from your garden already!

By the way, that puttanesca looks so good, please share your recipe!
